Traceability and Quality Control
Traceability and QC are not an add-on in Minotaur; they are built into all transactions. Many of our customers are tracking lot or serial numbers for GFSI and other quality assurance schemes. Minotaur allows you to track lot numbers on paper, by entering it into touch screens, tablets or PCs or by scanning lot numbers via GS1-128 barcodes.
Lot numbers can be read from barcodes on receiving or assigned when materials arrive. GS1-128 Labels can be printed for each unit, case or skid. Lot numbers are captured when raw materials are picked for production, so the lot numbers going into a batch or production room are tracked. Your lot controlled finished goods are tied to all raw materials and interim products used in creating that batch. Minotaur containers can ‘build’ skids (group items onto a skid) and create GS1 MH10 skid labels and the accompanying EDI ASN (advanced shipping notice) to send to your customer. Finally, lots are suggested and recorded or scanned as product is picked for each customer order.
Quality Control (QC)
Tracking QC information is a natural extension of lot tracking. Most QC testing is done on a batch to batch basis. The ability to store the test results for producing Certificated of Analysis or just for GFSI record keeping, means you’ll be able to quickly review that information should there be an issue. Set up tests for different items with lower and upper limits of acceptability. Minotaur can also be used for tracking required HACCP information that relates to an entire receiving, not just an individual item or lot; such tests might include temperature of truck or condition of truck.
Minotaur’s traceability offers more than just a field for entering a lot number. We verify every transaction to ensure it is valid. For example, we won’t let you use a lot number you never received or had already used. We won’t let you ship a lot number that you didn’t make or over-ship if you didn’t have the right quantity in stock. All transactions are checked every step of the way and invalid transactions are prevented. This prevents inventory control issues.
Trace Forwards and Backwards
Minotaur ensures you can trace all your item lot numbers. Traceability includes raw materials, interim internal lot numbers on WIP items and finished good items, even when production extends over multiple days. Whether you need to recall due to a supplier raw materials issue or if you are performing a mock or actual recall of finished products, Minotaur is capable of providing you information on where a lot originated and where it ultimately went.
Recall by Production Day or Production Line.
If an equipment problem on a particular line has been identified or quality control checks find a concern during testing, product can be put on hold for further inspection or recalled based on production day or line. Even if you created interim goods (rework) that became part of a subsequent days production, Minotaur will provide you with information on the additional lots involved so you may recall them as well. This means you are ready for a recall at any time. Minotaur provides you all the information you need to remove a product from the shelf instantly.
