Any first responder can tell you the value of having backup. So can anyone who has lost their business information in the past due to a failed hard drive, natural disaster or fire. Backing up your information means taking a copy of the records in your Minotaur system and anything else that’s important to your business so that if anything goes wrong, you can restore it.
Along with backing up all your files, Minotaur also recommends:
- At minimum, backup the complete Minotaur directory and all sub-directories to a location other than the Minotaur server
- Test the backup regularly by restoring it to a test directory on the Minotaur server to verify the integrity
- We recommend that you have the Minotaur directory backed up to another directory on the server, then back up that directory to an external hard drive that you can take off-site each night
- It’s a good idea to keep multiple backups, so we suggest getting a hard drive that’s easy to carry with you but also has enough space for five whole backups
Minotaur recommends this work be done by someone who is familiar with how backups work, such as your outside IT person. Minotaur can provide you with these services if you don’t otherwise have access to an IT professional. Give your business a holiday gift—review and verify your backup plan is working!
